Lessons on Fiddle

The study of old time fiddling – with its emphasis on rhythm, groove, improvisation, and listening – makes an excellent supplement to classical or suzuki violin training, though such training is not necessary to learning this style. My primary goal as a teacher is to prepare students for old time jams. Lessons will cover technique, theory, repertoire, history, and listening skills. Special attention will be paid to bowing techniques that are essential to the sound of this style and yet often elusive for classically-trained violinists.
